Although during the first three quarters of 2021, accommodation establishments in Berlin counted a total of 3.1 million guests with 8.5 million overnights, the numbers are still relatively low compared to the same period in 2019 due to travel restrictions that have been imposed around the world. “In the first nine months of 2021, accommodation establishments in Berlin counted 3.1 million guests with 8.5 million overnights. This is 20.6 percent less overnight than in the same period last year,” the Statistical Office Berlin-Brandenburg said in a statement.

Back in 2019, when there were no entry restrictions, the number of overnight stays in Berlin accommodation establishments was 66.9 percent higher than it is now. This indicates that travel restrictions have greatly affected the tourism sector, TheSchengen.com reports.
