Vaccinated and repatriated travelers from Albania, the Faroe Islands, Morocco and Panama can now enter Norway under the same restrictions as EU citizens since these countries officially joined the EU’s COVID-19 digital certificate.
Albania, the Faroe Islands, Morocco and Panama are now linked to the EU’s corona certification solution. Therefore, Norway already accepts certificates from these countries,” the statement from the Ministry of Health and Welfare Services stated.
According to a press release issued by the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Welfare Services yesterday, September 21, under the recent changes, travelers coming from one of the four countries mentioned above can enter Norway without being subject to self-isolation rules.
However, the authorities stressed that in order to bypass the quarantine period, those arriving in the country must prove that they have a valid vaccination certificate, which must indicate that its holder has been immunized with one of the recognized vaccines.

Except for those who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the quarantine exemption also applies to those who have recovered from illness within the past six months, SchengenVisainfo.com reports.
Regarding the rules after entering Norwegian territory, the authorities stressed that all vaccinated and repatriated travelers coming from Albania, the Faroe Islands, Morocco and Panama must fill out an entry form and take a COVID-19 test at the border.
In addition, it was emphasized that it is essential that the COVID-19 certificate for travelers coming from these countries include a QR code.
The ministry stressed that “it is a prerequisite that the corona certificate is verified using a QR code in line with the European Union’s solution to corona certificates.”
In addition, Norway announced that certificates issued by Andorra, Israel and Monaco will also be recognized once the countries connect to the EU portal.
Besides the four countries whose COVID-19 certificates will be recognized upon entry into Norway, the country already recognizes documents issued by the following countries outside the European Economic Area/Schengen Area:
England Northern Ireland North Macedonia San Marino Scotland Switzerland Turkey Ukraine Vatican City Wales
In contrast, with regard to non-vaccinated and non-exempt travelers coming from these countries, the authorities were keen to highlight that they are subject to strict entry rules.
According to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH), all people who have not been vaccinated or have recovered from the virus must submit a negative COVID-19 test result before entry, fill out a registration form, undergo testing at the border, and go into self-isolation.
Previously, Norway banned non-essential travel from Australia as the country was removed from the purple list.
