France Moves Uruguay From Green to Orange List

Uruguay will no longer be part of France’s green list as the latter has decided to move the country to the orange list.

According to a recent update by the French Interior Ministry, Uruguay will be placed on the orange list on February 6, TheSchengen.com reports.

Such a decision has been made since Uruguay has recorded increasing infection rates. Figures from the World Health Organization (WHO) show that Uruguay has reported 69,043 new cases of coronavirus in just the past seven days.

In line with France’s current entry rules, fully vaccinated travelers from Uruguay or any other part of the orange list countries can enter France for travel purposes without having to provide an underlying reason for their trip.

Travelers from Uruguay who have already been vaccinated against COVID-19 need to present a valid certificate of vaccination upon arrival in France. In addition, everyone is required to submit a negative test result taken within 48 hours prior to arriving in France in order to be allowed into the country.

“If you have already been vaccinated, you must provide evidence of your vaccination status, a sworn statement certifying the absence of COVID-19 symptoms and any contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, as well as the results of a virus (PCR) or antigen screening test performed less than From 48 hours from departure and no contamination with the COVID-19 virus has been detected, in order to enter France,” the ministry said in a statement.

Travelers should note that since February 1, France only recognizes certificates of vaccination that indicate that the holder has received the last dose of vaccine in the course of the initial vaccination within nine months.

As for non-vaccinated travelers from Uruguay, the authorities have made it clear that stricter rules will be applied to this category of people starting from tomorrow.

Travelers from Uruguay who have not been vaccinated against the virus must provide an essential reason for their trip as well as a negative test result taken within 48 hours prior to entry.

In addition, unvaccinated travelers from Uruguay must submit a sworn statement that they will remain in quarantine for seven days upon arrival in France and that they will undergo another test at the end of the isolation period.

Last week, France also moved Australia and Argentina from the green list to the orange list. Travelers from these countries need to follow the same rules as travelers from Uruguay when arriving in France.
