Brits & Americans Can Now Travel to Germany Under Facilitated Entry Rules

Fully vaccinated travelers from the UK and US will now be able to enter Germany under the facilitated entry rules.

Updating the list of countries severely affected by the COVID-19 disease, the German body responsible for disease prevention and control, the Robert Koch Institute, has announced that from tomorrow, February 20, the United Kingdom and the United States will be removed from the top. List of risks.

This means vaccinated travelers from these two countries will not be required to follow additional entry procedures, TheSchengen.com reports.

From tomorrow, February 20, travelers from the UK and the US will be able to enter the country without having to check in. In addition, they will also be exempted from quarantine requirements.

However, the authorities made it clear that travelers from these two countries need to provide valid proof of vaccination to avoid additional entry rules.

The German Federal Ministry of Health explains: “Residents of other countries outside the European Union are only allowed to enter Germany if they play an important role, if they have an urgent need to travel or if they have been fully vaccinated.”

This statement states that unvaccinated travelers from the UK and US can only enter Germany for very essential purposes provided they provide a negative test result taken within the past 48 hours and follow the ten-day quarantine requirements.

On the other hand, fully vaccinated passengers are allowed entry for all kinds of purposes without having to follow other rules.

In line with the EU recommendation, Germany currently applies a nine-month validity period to vaccination certificates. This means that only people who have completed the initial vaccination within the past nine months (270 days) are considered fully immunized upon arrival in Germany.

Those who were vaccinated more than nine months ago need to receive an extra dose of the vaccine, also known as a booster vaccine, in order for their entry permit to remain valid and to be able to enter Germany under the concessional rules.

German authorities have clarified that unvaccinated children aged between zero and five, from ages 6 to 11, can enter Germany as well, provided they are accompanied by a fully vaccinated parent.

Previously, the German health authorities announced that the country plans to ease its national restrictions related to the Corona virus. The Federal Government’s Council of Experts indicated that the restrictions would be eased once the number of hospitalization cases decreased.
